THINGS TO REMEMBER

HERE IS A QUICK GUIDE ON PACKING, APPS, AND COSTS

WHILE YOU'RE PREPARING FOR TRAVEL...

  • Download your airline's app - it really helps with flight info and updates.

  • Download WhatsApp – many of the locals have this app and you can communicate with them via it.

  • Download the Maps.me app before arriving- In this app you will be able to navigate on the island or in the country without usage of the internet. In the search option you type the name of the accommodation and it will bring you to the correct location.

  • Download the GlobeConvert Currency & Units App before arriving to help with any money conversions you will need to make.

Transportation

  • Have at least $30 in ones for the taxis to and from the port or airport. Most guests used Uber or Lyft today, but it is not offered everywhere.

  • If you are choosing to take a carry-on, you are allowed TWO carry-ons - one big purse and a carry tote bag for the ladies or for the men you can carry a book bag, and/or a suitcase/duffel that fits the carry-on measurements. Unless the airlines states otherwise.

  • Please check your ticket for an Basic Economy Rules

    Carry-on measurements are as follows:

  • Packing Dimensions: 20 in H x 13.5 in W x 8.5 in D

  • Outer Dimensions: 23 in H x 13.5 in W x 9 in D

  • Expansion: 2 in / 5 cm

  • Weight: 5.9 lbs.

  • Liquids for your carry-on are only allowed to be 3 oz. or less. Those little mini travel bottles you see at Target or Wal-Mart in the travel section of the toiletry isle, are what is allowed. You can fill these bottles up with a variety of things such as (body wash, feminine wash, conditioner, lotion, etc.) and be fine for a 7-day trip. You will need to have the bottles in a plastic bag/clear toiletry bag while in your carry-on.

  • If you are one of those people who cannot pack “light” for the carry-on requirements, you will have to check your bag. That means you must actually go to your airline’s kiosk and pay the airline's fee to have your bag checked to go under the plane. There is also a fee to check your bag on your return as well.  If your bag exceeds 50lbs you will have to pay the up-charge that airline charges or remove some items (with Majority Airlines). Some airlines such as Frontier and Spirit have a weight limit of 40lbs.
